From Forest to Finish: How We Source Our Materials
Every piece we make starts with a conversation about wood. Not all teak is the same — age, drying method, and grain direction all affect how a finished piece will look and behave.
Our sourcing process
We work with a small network of certified timber suppliers in Java. Before we accept a delivery, our workshop team inspects each batch for defects, checks moisture content, and grades the planks for different uses. Wide, clear boards go to bed frames and tabletops. Tighter grain goes to structural components.
In the workshop
Our workshop in Bali employs around 20 craftsmen, most of whom have been with us for over a decade. Joinery is done by hand — mortise and tenon, dowel joints, traditional techniques that have outlasted many modern alternatives.
Finishing
We use water-based finishes where possible. They cure harder, off-gas less, and are easier to touch up in the field. For outdoor pieces we offer a choice of natural teak oil or a UV-resistant clear coat.
From raw timber to delivery typically takes 6–10 weeks for custom orders.
